About the Role:

Our client—a leading global online delivery and platform business—is recruiting a Senior Legal Counsel specializing in Platform Work Regulation in Amsterdam. In this critical legal role, you will spearhead legal strategy, regulatory engagement, and risk mitigation surrounding platform workers, gig economy legislation, and the EU Platform Work Directive across European operating territories.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead legal analysis and operational compliance with the EU Platform Work Directive and national gig worker regulations across member states.
• Advise executive leadership and operations on worker status classification, algorithmic management legal constraints, and courier operating models.
• Represent the enterprise in discussions with regulatory bodies, government ministries, industry associations, and legal working groups.
• Defend the business in strategic litigation and regulatory enforcement proceedings related to platform labor and independent contractor status.
• Partner cross-functionally with Public Policy, Corporate Affairs, and Logistics Operations to architect sustainable operational frameworks.
• Conduct ongoing risk audits of digital platform workflows, dispatch algorithms, and courier terms and conditions.
• Draft clear policy briefs, executive summaries, and compliance guidelines on emerging European labor regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Fully qualified European lawyer (LL.M. or equivalent) with 7+ years of post-qualification experience in labor law, EU regulatory law, or platform economics.
• Recognized expertise in gig economy regulation, employment status jurisprudence, and European digital labor market trends.
• Proven track record in complex labor litigation or regulatory defense within the platform, transport, or tech delivery sectors.
• Strong strategic acumen with the capability to guide business model evolution in response to evolving statutory frameworks.
• Outstanding stakeholder management, advocacy, and executive communication skills.
• Fluency in English is required; command of French, German, Spanish, or Dutch is a significant plus.
